John 'Jack' Hamilton is working to help develop CbI's investigative reporting and risk analysis capabilities, and reinforce the company's stable of high-value business intelligence reports. His focus is the Middle East/North Africa region, while also retaining a strong interest in East European issues, where he has considerable experience.

After more than a decade working as a journalist, including a long residency in Sofia, John has also recently worked on CbI editorial projects including putting copy into Euromoney's Emerging Markets newspaper and FT Business's The Banker and Foreign Direct Investment magazine, and a book on Islamic finance for Faircount Publishing. Countries recently visited include Egypt and Qatar.

Currently working on a book about Arabs in London, John speaks Egyptian Arabic approximately and standard Arabic proficiently, as well as being fluent in Bulgarian. In an earlier incarnation, he was a Bulgaria specialist, writing for The Sunday Times and Wall Street Journal Europe. He was consultant on a TV investigation into the London 1978 murder of dissident playwright Georgi Markov, which was broadcast on Channel Five in May 2006 as The Umbrella Assassin: Revealed. His book on Bulgaria's post-communist transformation was published in Bulgarian in 2006 and will appear English in 2007.
