Eleanor Gillespie is Cross-border Information's specialist Middle East researcher with a particular focus on the Gulf states. Eleanor is a contributing editor of Gulf States Newsletter.

Eleanor has a Masters degree in Middle East Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and read International Relations at Leeds University. She has studied both Arabic and Farsi.

Eleanor is a specialist in the security policies of the GCC states and political liberalisation in rentier states, particularly Kuwait and Bahrain. She has a special interest in the complex relationships that tipify Gulf ruling and merchant families.

Eleanor grew up in West Africa and Qatar, where she regularly travels. Eleanor has lived and taught horse riding in the Unites States and worked for the Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) in London.
